Inspiring Future Human Rights Advocates: A Visit from Leiden University Law Students

At Korea Future, we believe in nurturing the next generation of human rights advocates. We were delighted to host a group of students from the Law Faculty Association of Leiden University, who travelled from the Netherlands to visit our office in Seoul.

During their visit, we introduced them to the multifaceted world of human rights investigations. Our team provided an overview of the investigative process, illustrating the intricacies and challenges involved in uncovering human rights violations. The students were engaged and eager to learn, showing a genuine interest in understanding the work that goes into holding violators accountable.

One of the key points we discussed was the need for survivor-centredness in all human rights work. We emphasised that survivors of human rights violations must be at the forefront of any investigative process. This means approaching each case with sensitivity, empathy, and respect, and ensuring that survivors’ voices are heard and valued.

The visit was an enriching experience for both the students and our team. It was inspiring to see the passion and enthusiasm these future legal professionals exhibited toward human rights issues. We hope that the insights we shared will motivate them to pursue careers dedicated to justice and human rights.
