We empower exiled North Koreans by strengthening their voices and amplifying their impact
Our impact
In 2021, we worked alongside 178 exiled North Korean women and over 30 global experts to identify barriers that prevented exiled North Korean women from entering human rights organisations. Our findings were published in our report and launch event.
We have engaged 160 exiled North Koreans engaged through our workshops, fostering a community of informed advocates and survivors.
We have held 4 workshops specifically designed for exiled North Korean human rights investigators, enhancing their skills in documentation and advocacy.
We have held 4 community consultations, gathering diverse perspectives and fostering collective solutions.
In 2022, we supported a core group of emerging women leaders in the diaspora through a monthly series of human rights workshops. Participants were provided with opportunities to strengthen their core human rights skills and grow their practical skills in leadership and organisation. Our findings were published in our report and launch event.
What is Korea Future doing?
As an organisation that was mandated by the survivor community, empowering those who experience the most severe injustice is central to our mission. We recognise that civil society organisations led by exiled North Koreans encounter significant challenges in sustaining their efforts and increasing their impact. Korea Future focuses on empowering these organisations by providing comprehensive training and support. This includes skills development workshops, mental health support, and guidelines for human rights documentation. By enhancing the knowledge and capabilities of these organisations, Korea Future ensures they are well-prepared to lead impactful human rights work and advocacy efforts, contributing to a stronger, coordinated response to human rights violations in North Korea on the global stage.
