Korea Future (KF) is seeking a full-time staff member for a project that will focus on documentation and accountability for sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV) in North Korea. The successful candidate will work with KF’s team to engage survivors, impacted communities, and international stakeholders; undertake interviews with survivors; and engage in targeted advocacy.

Experience:

Essential

  • Written and spoken fluency in Korean and English;

  • Knowledge and practical experience of international criminal law and/or international human rights law;

  • Knowledge of international legal procedures and instruments; and

  • Demonstrable research and writing skills. 

Desirable 

  • Experience working on matters related to SGBV; 

  • Experience conducting legal research and analysis; and

  • Experience in or knowledge of the situation in North Korea.

Planning and Organisation 

  • Ability to work effectively within a small team and to adhere to deadlines; and

  • Ability to manage large volumes of research and evidential analysis.

Communications and Teamwork:

  • Speaks and writes clearly and effectively;

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written);

  • Polite and respectful of others in alignment with our organisational values; and 

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain effective and harmonious working relations with colleagues.

Benefits

  • This is a full-time position at 40 hours a week from 10:00-18:00 KST. Evening and weekend work may be required from time to time.

  • The position is based at the KF office in Seoul. KF has a flexible working policy which allows some home working for staff in Seoul.

  • KF staff are paid according to set salary scales, with annual cost of living increases, and the possibility of step increase with strong performance. 

  • KF offers contributions to a pension, healthcare, long-term care insurance, and personal accident insurance.

  • The candidate must have the right to live and work in South Korea.
